Dave's leaded caddis.
Actually this is Dave's Dead Caddis. A friend of mine tied me this, a whole bunch of other flies and gave me a distance casting T-shirt, erm with flowers on it.
Anyway let's not talk about that. The point is having tried this fly in New Zealand, the UK, the States, Germany, Switzerland and Spain, I've come to the conclusion that it simply doesn't work. In fact in New Zealand it goes as far as to actually spook fish. I *was* going to give five patterns away to Board members before realising the value of such a fly. You know how sometimes you get so pissed off with fish that you throw yourself or a rock at them, well I throw this. One cast is often all it takes. In fact sometimes I spook a whole pool just by running Dave's Dead Caddis through once. It's a great fly. Unfortunately I've only got four of them left - Dave actually sent me ten of them - so I'll be asking Dave for some more soon. So, thanks Dave! And good luck with your FFF, we need you.
Tying instructions:
I wouldn't wish to detract from such a fly by exposing it in such a base manner. So instead I'll be asking Dave for an article.
