Daddy long legs.

Ok, this is a complete and total cock-up and I'll be sending this fly to Ben shortly. Unfortunately I do actually tie them like this.

Although you see daddies at all times of year, even in April, I only ever really see them on the water during the back end. Pretty good as a dry fly, better yet as a wet - fished slow on the slime line. Try this in September: Daddy on the top, Shipman's in the middle, Black Lure on the point.

It's also a pretty good search fly on New Zealand rivers, where I demonstrated to Sean that it was in fact possible to cast behind fish and get them to take. I know that impressed him.

Tying instructions:
size 10, brown thread, brown seal body, 6 knotted pheasant tail fibres as a sort of wing, mono rib, Greenwell cock.
