Dry invicta.
It was Camo-Guy who first put me on to this. He said, "Paul, when you next come over to New Zealand make sure you bring some golden yellow seal and some blue jay, and tie some dry Invicta's before you come. That's what the fish want... and it's all that's working."
What he didn't say was how to tie the bloody thing. And that's because he doesn't know - and I don't think it matters. Still it's a wonderful fly, certainly one of the best adult sedge patterns going.
Tying instructions:
size 10, same as an invicta but spin a ginger cock in front of the wing and flay some blue jay fibres around the front - you'll have to make this bit up yourself.
