Now we're talking. One of the best flies of all time and bitch to tie - especially the whipfinish. I love this fly; it has that whole sedgy thing going on. Trout in lakes take a while before they decide to eat the adults, but they don't take long at all before turning to the pupae - that may be a myth incidentally.
You "pull" this fly since that's how sedges swim. Fish on a floater either on it's own, on the top dropper, or else on the point with a deer hair sedge on the dropper (great down and across river tactic).
Tying instructions:
size 12 hook, brown thread, golden pheasant crest tail, yellow seal body, palmered ginger cock ribbed with fine gold wire, blue jay throat, hen pheasant wing. There's lots going on in there.
