Wasp.

First tied to catch fish on the Water of Leith one September, fishing a stretch where good fish (for that water - over 1 lb) were rising sporadically to wasps (and large beetles). Since then this pattern has done well for me on stillwaters. There's lots of wasps in the NZ backcountry - especially on the West Coast, several times I've had to run away after stumbling into a nest. I bet this fly would work wonders over there late in the season.

Tying instructions:
size 8, olive thread, yellow seal ribbed through with black seal on a dubbing loop, reverse rib with mono, light blue dun wing, black hackle.
