10th October '07 - small dries for rivers and woolly buggers for Asp
No doubt you're wondering WTF's going on here. Paul says he's going to tie flies as he fishes and build a box this way, and then he sits down and ties a bunch of flies for a country where he's not. That's called 'preparation'.
And you're also wondering why the background on Paul's pics is green, or some other weird mixed colour, and not one plain colour like everyone else's, and some of them are out of focus. This is called 'mood lighting' and I'm an expert at it.
Small River Sedge with Mood Lighting Paul doesn't expect to see a sedge hatch for several months, this size is good on the Mataura. Size 13 believe it or not.

Woolly Bugger size 8

Parachute dun thing, maybe taken for spinner, green and brown, some flash, Mood Lighting, slightly out of focus, water may be fast or fish vision distorted, this is what the fish want

Heavily hackled riffle dun - this one is actually in focus and really looks like this - try squinting and you'll see what I mean, it's very clever

An awesome little number, I'll be fishing this one for the first time in Bosnia this weekend. I may clip the lower hackles depending on what the fish want.

Halfordian Dryfly, suitable for the River Test and other traditional lurebashing venues.

If you've been keeping up with FlyBlog, your box should look like this... Stillwaters:

Rivers:

I still have a bunch of small/er stuff to tie for Bosnia. I day teaching, two days fishing. Can't wait! Off Asping today..
Cheers, Paul
